Partnering with local entrepreneurs in Togo, Kenya, and Benin builds the ground-level infrastructure needed to orchestrate local textile waste collection and recycling solutions. This programme leads to local job creation and supports waste management systems.
The Togo Takeback Scheme operates out of Lomé in partnership with Sunfu International SARL, under a signed Sale & Purchase Agreement. It is the programme's most mature pilot: collection, sorting, cutting, and baling infrastructure is installed and operational, with cut machines and a strapper in place. Since January 2026, Togo has collected 139,985 kg, processed 108,682 kg, and shipped 54,000 kg of textile wipers to offtaker MTS in Maassluis, NL.
The Kenya Takeback Scheme is run with Africa Collect Textiles Foundation, collecting feedstock from collection points in Nairobi and Gikomba Market. Processing equipment has been finalised and orders in transit, but shipping has not yet started. First containers are targeted for Q3, 2026. Since January 2026, Kenya has collected >16,000 kg and processed >5,000 kg. A key open item in Kenya is the higher feedstock collection price in Nairobi relative to Togo, which is shaping ongoing discussions on the incentive structure.
The Benin Takeback Scheme has progressed from early infrastructure setup: the Sale & Purchase Agreement has now been signed, and equipment has been ordered. No collection or processing volumes have been recorded yet, as operations are still being stood up. Preliminary data on Benin will be reflected in the 2nd report.
